2024 Athletic Scholarship Award Application

Purpose: 

To recognize and reward Kamiak High School seniors who have distinguished themselves in the field of athletics through leadership, character, dedication, and service to the community. 

Eligibility: 

To be eligible for this annual college scholarship, the applicant must: 

  • Have a current family membership with the Kamiak Athletic Booster Club (due by the Scholarship Deadline)

  • Be a graduating senior of Kamiak High School in June 2024

  • Have lettered in at least one Varsity-level sport at Kamiak

  • Never have been suspended from athletic competition due to Athletic Training and Conduct Code Violations during high school 

  • Participate or have participated in community service during his/her high school career 

  • Have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0

  • Be accepted by an accredited college or university* for admittance in the summer or fall entrance periods in the same year the scholarship was awarded

  • Submit a complete and signed application (Responses should be 1-2 paragraphs, well thought out, and in the applicant's own words).

* In the event that a scholarship winner does not attend an accredited college or university during the summer or fall in the same year of its award, the scholarship award will be rescinded. 

Amount of Award: 

The KABC scholarship consists of 6 awards at $500 each per year. The scholarship awards will be distributed to deserving senior student athletes on Senior Recognition Night in June.

Selection Criteria:

The KABC Scholarship Committee will consider the following criteria:

  • Number of athletic achievement awards and honors
  • Number of varsity letters earned
  • Number of Kamiak sports seasons in which student participated
  • Amount and type of community service
  • Additional attributes that may be considered by the Scholarship Committee members including leadership, inspiration, and quality responses to the essays.

Scholarship Committee:

The KABC Scholarship Committee is comprised of Kamiak parents who are also members of KABC.  The KABC Conflict of Interest Policy prohibits the participation of a committee member who is related to a scholarship applicant in the year they apply. The selection committee is comprised of at least 4 and no more than 8 members who are selected by the KABC Board.

KABC bylaws determine the amount of annual scholarships.  The Scholarship Committee determines the denominations of these KABC athletic scholarships, not to exceed $3,000 total.  Typically, six scholarships of $500 each are distributed.
