The Tapir Journal: Round 2 Recruitment for Co-editors in Chief, Editors and Publicity Directors
KCL Malaysian Society is not taking a break on expanding our influence and opportunities for our members this year, but further to that- we want to give our members a voice. The Tapir Journal aims to fulfill this promise and we want your help to do it.

This will not be a "Buzzfeed's Top 10 London Eats" type of newspaper. The content will be extremely factual and explore complex topics pertaining to politics and economics, with a particular focus towards Southeast Asia. Recent articles we've written have covered the upcoming General Election as well as broder sociopolitical topics ranging from the potential of medicinal marijuana use in Malaysia to “Brain Drain” and death in custody.

You can find a link to these articles here: https://www.kclmsoc.com/blog

We are the first Malaysia society to establish a student newspaper. Our articles have made over a hundred thousand impressions on LinkedIn and have sparked discussion among Malaysian across the world.
In tandem to this genre we also have an interview oriented wing named "Bertemu" (meaning to meet in Malay).

Bertemu is the sub-branch of the Tapir Journal focussed on interviewing successful people including popular Malaysian figures, former KCL Alumni and popular British figures. Bertemu aims to set up an interview and talk with the Malaysian Ambassador to the UK as its first mission. The first article written under this initiative was with an extremely successful law student, who is now studying the BCL in Oxford.

All roles are to be taken very seriously, the workload will never exceed one article per month and is meant to be light and easy to avoid burnout. There will be no weekly constant meetings and no weekend work unless absolutely necessary. This journal is meant to also escalate the presentability and employability of our members as well. All staff of the Tapir Journal will have an academic title of "Editor", "Publicity director" or "Co-editors in Chief". You will work in a cooperative environment where discussion and efficiency are emphasised. The Editor in Chief’s leadership style will never ever be to harshly scold anybody. He believes in calm discussion, and low and efficient involvement.

As Southeast Asians, we come from a portion of the world with harsh censorship laws, but we are fortunate enough to be able to be away from home. We have exposure to a global, world class education and therefore, can have an objective view on the world. Let's put it to good use.

This journal will continue to run whether we get 100 signups or zero. To read our original concept for this newspaper click here: https://www.instagram.com/p/CbPdmygsrUF/?igshid=YmMyMTA2M2Y=
