Spanish for Social Justice (Open to All)    Spring 2024 In-Person Class Registration

¡Bienvenides! Welcome to Spanish for Social Justice!

Algarabía Language Co-op is excited to announce our  in-person Spanish classes at Mayday Space starting this spring 2024!

Spanish for Social Justice courses are offered by Algarabía Language Co-op in partnership with Mayday Space. We offer courses at the BEGINNER and INTERMEDIATE levels of fluency to those interested in topics of social justice, politics, and culture. Through weekly social justice themes, and using a communicative and popular education approach, participants will improve their Spanish skills and critically engage with various cultural productions centered around the lived experiences of working class people of Indigenous and African descent on the continent. These courses are designed for folks at different levels of fluency in their productive (speaking, writing) and receptive (listening and reading) skills. Special focus will be given to learning vocabulary and community organizing terminology relevant to contemporary social movements in New York City (Lenapehoking), one of the largest and most diverse Spanish-speaking cities in the world and the rest of Turtle Island and Abya Yala.

⚠️Classes will now start on April 28th ⚠️
