Early Childhood Programming Expansion
Dear Maercker School District Families,

As part of the District's strategic plan, we are exploring options for expanding opportunities to engage our earliest learners, students under five years old.  The district is considering a number or programming options that research has shown to be highly impactful in setting the stage for early childhood development that supports future success in school.  If you have a child that is 0-5 years old, please consider providing feedback that will shape program design for the future.

Thank you in advance,

Maureen Kidd
Director of Special Education

Home visit programs are a common method of engaging families with young children.  These visits would focus on providing access to community resources, play materials, parent education, and suggestions and support with parenting needs.  How interested would you be in participating in a bi-monthly home visit program? *
Play group programs are another method of engaging families with young children.  Play groups typically offer 5-7 families an opportunity engage in a structured story time or music/movement activity, followed by opportunities to explore new play materials that support crucial areas of development.  Parent education around how to replicate these experiences at home is provided, as well.   If the conditions supported healthy, safe play group opportunities in the future, how interested would you be in participating? *
To-Go Play kits are another option to support families with young children.  This option would offer web-based parent education programming related to key areas of child development (fine motor, communication, gross motor, cognitive, and social-emotional) followed by providing families with take home bags of play materials to promote development with knowledge gained from the parent education.  For example, a parent may attend a Zoom presentation on toddler language development and then receive a "play kit" with several books to promote language development at home.  How interested would you be in participating in a monthly To-Go Play program? *
Use of technology-based resources to support families is another option that the district is considering.  This program would utilize video models to connect families with resources to demonstrate creative learning opportunities at home.  A playlist of videos can be sent directly to families regarding key topics of interest.  The videos can be accessed via phone and computer.  How interested would you be in participating in technology-based family program? *
Please indicate which topics related to early childhood development you would be interested in learning about (check all that apply).
Please indicate your interest in learning more about community resources (please check all that apply). *
