We sign below as residents of Elmswell who wish to immediately halt progress of the proposed Mid Suffolk District Council scheme for a new estate of 50-houses on land off School Road.

We think that, before the Mid Suffolk plan goes any further, proper consideration must be given to the proposal currently under discussion between District and County Council officers, Ward Members and Elmswell Parish Council regarding the possibility that a new primary school with ancillary community facilities should be built on this land when aggregated with adjacent Council-owned holdings.

We deplore a proposal which would impose further pressure on the primary education provision in our village and which would remove any chance that Elmswell pupils could be educated in Elmswell rather than having to travel to a new school in Woolpit.
