HBLL 2023 College of Life Sciences Undergraduate Poster Competition

This poster competition is open for undergraduate students doing research in the College of Life Sciences. Please complete this registration form. The main objectives of the poster competition are to (1) 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘃𝗶𝗱𝗲 𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗱𝘂𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝘀𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗼𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝘁𝗼 𝗱𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗽 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗿𝗲𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗶𝗿 𝘀𝗰𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗰 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝘀𝗸𝗶𝗹𝗹𝘀; (2) 𝗴𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝘀𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗽𝗮𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗳𝗲𝗲𝗱𝗯𝗮𝗰𝗸 𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗶𝗿 𝗽𝗼𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗱𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗯𝗮𝗹 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝘀𝗸𝗶𝗹𝗹𝘀; and (3) 𝗵𝗶𝗴𝗵𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗺𝗼𝘁𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝗯𝗲𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗱𝘂𝗰𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗯𝘆 𝗕𝗬𝗨 𝘀𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗳𝗮𝗰𝘂𝗹𝘁𝘆 𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗖𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗴𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗟𝗶𝗳𝗲 𝗦𝗰𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲𝘀.

To meet these objectives, student participants are highly encouraged to tailor their poster designs, three-minute videos, and open house presentations to a 𝙜𝙚𝙣𝙚𝙧𝙖𝙡 𝙖𝙘𝙖𝙙𝙚𝙢𝙞𝙘 𝙖𝙪𝙙𝙞𝙚𝙣𝙘𝙚 (see our online poster design tutorial for more guidance). Poster, video, and open house presentation judging will specifically assess how well students 𝙘𝙡𝙚𝙖𝙧𝙡𝙮 and 𝙨𝙪𝙘𝙘𝙞𝙣𝙘𝙩𝙡𝙮 describe the importance of their research to a general audience, who likely will be unfamiliar with the technical details of this research. Competition judging will focus on the poster, video, and presentation 𝙙𝙚𝙨𝙞𝙜𝙣 and communication of the research rather than the merit of the study.
