Each year The Key Foundation Inc. provides grants for youth-serving summer camps run by 501c3 non-profit organizations. Vervaert Grants will not be awarded to any camp affiliated with a religious organization.
Grants are limited to $1,000 per project and should be used to expand existing program areas or to introduce new program aspects to the camp. For example, a grant may be used to expand an existing program or introduce a new program at a waterfront area, but not to simply replace life jackets that have been worn out over time. General maintenance and upkeep costs should be factored into the camp's yearly operating budget.
Examples of some past projects include the expansion of a welding program to support more campers through more welding supplies, introduction of a bicycling program, introduction of a wood burning/pyrography crafts program, introduction of agriculture and farm animal programs, and introduction of stand-up paddle boards at a waterfront.
Each camp and non-profit organization may submit applications for multiple project grants each year, except as specified in the Terms of Application section of this form. A submitted application does not guarantee funding for a project, nor does it guarantee full funding of the requested amount.
Successful applicants will be asked to provide a brief report on the success of the project at the end of the summer camping season. The report should contain a few paragraphs on how the project was received by campers and staff as well as a few photos of the program in action. A template for the final report will be provided when applicants are notified of grant decisions, as well as near the deadline for the final report.
Application deadline is 11:55PM EDT, May 4, 2024. Applications received after this deadline will not be considered. Final decisions will be made in mid-May and applicants will be notified of grant decisions by end of the day May 25, 2024.
