Cast size & direction of this performance
We are looking to form a team of 7 dancers like the original.

We may consider backing dancers for this project but we'll open those auditions separately if we do!

Please note:
- We are looking for performers who can take part in both the dance show in Autumn 2024 and the dance cover filming
- Your instructor may take part in the project (TBC)
When auditions will take place
We will be selecting dancers remotely using video auditions.

***NEW***

We are now accepting class videos for your auditions as an alternative option - however the video must be one take of the full song and focussed on you.
For example, a large group class video with you in the back, would not be acceptable.

You can still film an audition video separately as you may have improved since the classes have finished.

If you struggle to find space for filming, we may be able to help you film an audition during any spare studio time we have or during one of our rehearsals for other projects. Please apply then EMAIL US (at hello@dgcdance.com) to ask if we have any availability.

Please see "Timeline summary" above for audition video deadlines.

To submit your audition, upload your video to YouTube as an unlisted video and send us the link by editing your response to this google form and re-submitting.

Click the link to the guide for other ways to submit your audition video:

After applying, if you decide not to audition anymore, please email us at hello@dgcdance.com to let us know; alternatively update your answer to the YouTube link question, e.g. "No longer auditioning"

Selection criteria & what we look for

We have added extra details about the audition selection process to help make it clearer what we are looking for. Please note: this is still a work in progress and we will update whenever needed.

During auditions, the key areas we look at (in no particular order) are:
- Choreography – how well you know the routine
- Technique & execution – precision/sharpness/cleanliness & accuracy of the moves, timing & musicality, lines & posture, match the style of the dance
- Performance – confidence, energy, emotion/charisma/characterisation, dancing with the whole body, facial expressions

Overall, we aim to select dancers who were best at:
- dancing the original choreo as closely & accurately as possible; and
- embodying the style / concept of the choreo.

As K-pop has influences from many styles and genres around the world, for every song, it will be different; as each choreo has it’s own style and concept:
- Do your best to adapt to new styles and show us you can embody the concept

Examples
- For songs that require less energy or emotion, being extremely enthusiastic and expressive would not score extra points.
- For some songs, your energy and vibe may be more important than technique.

If we have any specific criteria that is not covered in the guidelines above, we will mention this in the audition application form or send you the details as soon as possible after you apply.

Please note:
- We now have multiple instructors who review the audition videos so it’s a collective decision in the end.
- The number of people auditioning and the overall standard of auditionees will affect whether you are selected due to more competition for the limited number of spots in a cover.
- If there are not enough auditionees who meet the minimum dance level required for the project, we may have to cancel the project unfortunately.
- If you are not selected, we do encourage you to ask for feedback to see where you can improve for future auditions.
- If you have done past projects with us, your past performance will be taken into account, e.g. timeliness & reliability for attending scheduled rehearsals, ability to change and apply corrections & feedback, have you been practising outside of rehearsals, etc

In addition to your performance in the auditions, we are looking for people who:
- are friendly
- are positive team players and will work well with others
- are interested in being a part of the DGC K-Pop community & family
- are open & honest
- are passionate and hardworking yet humble
- have the ability to take constructive feedback and apply corrections
- are reliable and will be able to commit to the rehearsal schedule
- have time to practice & self-study outside of rehearsals

Are you aged 18 or over? *
You must be aged 16 or over to take part and also because some venues have age restrictions
Class attendance criteria
You must have attended most of the Parts (excluding Recap). At the moment, we consider this to be at least 50% of the Parts, excluding Recap. However this is subject to change, and we may prioritise those who attended more than 50% of the classes.

For example:
- if you only attend 1 Part, or if you only attended the Recap, then you have not attended most of the Parts.
- if you booked the "Part 1" class but didn't attend the class in person, then you have not attended the "Part 1" class

Notes:
- If you did not attend most of the Parts (excluding Recap), we may not be able to consider you for this project and/or we may have to prioritise auditionees who attended most of the Parts.
- If you attend only the bare minimum number of Parts repeatedly and/or frequently, we may not consider you for our projects and may prioritise students who attend all the Parts.
- Sometimes we do make exceptions and would consider you in some scenarios. For example, if only 7 people applied for a 7 member cover and you didn't attend enough Parts, we would consider you in order to get a full team.
Which DGC classes did you attend for this song? *
You must have attended most of the Parts (excluding Recap) in order to audition.
Required
If you didn't attend most of the Parts (excluding Recap), you may not be considered for this project
*
We prioritise auditionees who have attended most of the Parts as long as they meet the minimum dance level required and can attend most of the rehearsals.

Rehearsal availability criteria
When choosing dancers, we take into account your availability for rehearsals (in addition to how well you did in your audition and whether you attended enough classes), as it would impact the group progress if we don't have a full team in the studios (e.g. for setting formations, cleaing and sync'ing the group).

If you are away for more than 1 main date rehearals, we are still happy to consider you, however we may have to prioritise auditionees who have better availability, depending on how many people submit their audition video in the end.

Also if you are selected and your availability changes, then we may not be able to consider you for the project.
If you cannot attend more than 1 main date rehearsal, we may not be able to consider you for this project and/or we may have to prioritise auditionees with better availability. *
