Barnwell Farmers Market Vendor Application 2024

The Barnwell Farmer’s Market is a seasonal open-air market organized and managed by Barnwell County HEALing Partners in partnership with the City of Barnwell. 

Market Season: May - October
Market Hours: Tuesdays 8am -12pm
                           Thursdays 2pm - 6pm
                           2nd & 4th Saturdays 9am - 1pm (no market Saturday May 11th)

Products Permitted for Sale:
All products sold at the farmer’s market must be grown, raised, or produced in South Carolina. Vendors must list each product they wish to sell at the market on their application. Products not listed on the application may not be sold at the market without pre-approval from the market manager. The market manager has the authority to prohibit the sale of any product that does not conform to market standards.

1. Fresh Farm Products - Includes, but is not limited to, SC grown fresh fruits and vegetables, herbs, nuts, honey, dairy products, eggs, poultry, mushrooms, meats, and fish. Also included in this category are fresh flowers, nursery stock, and plants.

2. Value-Added Food Products - Value-added products are made from raw agricultural products grown by a SC agricultural producer and processed beyond their raw, natural state. These include: jams and jellies; pickles, relishes, hot sauce, and salsas; cider; dried fruits and vegetables; dairy products such as cheese and yogurt

3. Prepared Foods - Prepared food goods are made from scratch by the vendor using ingredients not grown or raised by an agricultural producer. Items include: lemonade, coffee and tea, bread, pastries and other baked goods, chocolate and candies, pet products, pastas, dressings and sauces, oils, vinegars, granola, popcorn, cotton candy and hot prepared foods

4. Handmade Crafts & Goods / Non-Food Products - Handmade items are original, unique, high quality items which bring some added value to the Barwell Farmers Market. All products must be the actual work of the crafter. Includes, but not limited to: soaps, lotions, candles, jewelry, pottery, decorations, pet accessories, knit items, photography, paintings, clothing, woodworking, bird houses etc. We try to limit the number of vendors selling the same products to be fair to all vendors in order for you to be successful.

*Vendors will be required to submit copies of any necessary city, state, federal, SCDA and/or DHEC permits and licenses required for any qualifying items you intend to sell at the farmer’s market. Please reach out with any questions you may have regarding necessary permits or licenses.

BFM will do its best to supply a table under the pavilion for all vendors, however in the case of special events and high vendor signup, tables and tents may be set up in the grass area next to the pavilion.

Please list any crop/item you intend to re-sell at the market, and the location it was grown / produced.
*Farmers may offer pre-approved items for resale if they help meet a market need and do not compete with products already available at the market. Products must be clearly labeled to reflect the farm and location where it is grown/produced. Products from neighboring farms may not take up more than 50% of your table space.
**Market staff reserves the right to inspect a vendor's greenhouse, garden, farm, field or other place of production to verify that the products being sold meet market qualifications.

I understand that violations of the Rules and Regulations may be grounds for suspension or expulsion from the Market. I understand that the Market Manager can revoke selling privileges at any time. Participants must have an approved application, any applicable DHEC certifications, and product list on file with the Market Manager prior to participating at the Market. I understand that I cannot legally sell any food products which are produced off-site which have not been labeled, processed and prepared in compliance with the South Carolina Food and Cosmetic Act or other appropriate Regulations. I understand that the City of Barnwell recommends that I carry my own liability insurance while participating in the Barnwell Farmers’ Market.

Further – The City of Barnwell, Barnwell Parks and Recreation, HEALing Partners Coalition, it’s agents and employees, shall not be liable to me, or any other person on these premises, during the term of this Agreement, for injury to, damage to, or loss of, property or any person on these premises. I further agree to indemnify the City of Barnwell and Parks and Recreation Department and HEALing Partners Coalition and hold them harmless from all damages, injuries, liabilities, losses, and expenses incurred by myself in any way from the use of these premises. *
