Did
you know that the SAF is powered ENTIRELY by volunteers? Yup, it takes about
350-400 awesome people to put on this amazing fair every year. Not only do our
volunteers supply all of the labour at the Fair; they also help to create a
wonderful COMMUNITY that is the Fair. A large part of the responsibility of
being a volunteer at the Fair is to spread the passion and to ensure that
others are feeling the love. We want everyone’s experience at the Fair to be a
pleasant one. Our volunteers do their best to make sure this is the case.
Time Commitment
During the Fair weekend (Friday – Sunday) the standard time commitment is 8
- 16 hours. The minimum time commitment for set up and strike crews is 24-36
hours. Shift times may vary depending on the crew and shift availability.
* New volunteers must visit the volunteer lounge for a debriefing prior to
their first shifts. All volunteers must check-in at the volunteer lounge prior
to their shift beginning unless otherwise prearranged with their coordinator.
Volunteer Placement
You’ll be placed on a crew where most needed. Your preferences will be
considered but your skill level matched with the greatest need will determine
placement. Every effort is made to ensure that you are happy with your
placement, and we are pretty flexible when it comes to placing people with
friends and family if we are able to!
