The Manitoba Chapter of the Canadian Parks and Wilderness Society has successfully implemented over 180 outdoor learning workshops in schools and daycares across Manitoba reaching over 3,000 students over the past year. Students will spend an hour and a half outdoors in your schools green space connecting to nature throguh inquiry, exploration-based learning, stations, group games, and crafts for students to take home. This program is appropriate for grades 2-6, with the host school deciding which grade levels to offer to.
Two CPAWS environmental educators will run the sessions with the support of a school staff member onsite.

Information about outdoor learning after school program for 2022/23:
- Programming was developed by a certified classroom teacher and is tied to Manitoba curriculum outcomes.
- This program runs 1x/week outdoors for 6 weeks.
- Topics include: animals, plants, trees, soil, climate, the Boreal Forest, Manitoba’s North, grasslands, and more!
- Sessions run from 3:30-5 p.m**., with 15 minutes for snacks and body breaks at the beginning and 15 minutes of supervised outdoor play at the end. The educational programming component is 60 minutes. Parents will be given a pick-up window of 4:45-5 p.m. to accommodate their family schedules.
**This timing can be adjusted based on your school end time
- The program cost is $65/student plus tax for the six weeks of programming.
- We can accommodate up to 25 students / session.
Requirements from host school:
- Outdoor learning space (in the case of extreme cold or adverse weather, we would move to the gymnasium)
- Teacher supervisor onsite
- Outreach to parents - we provide all necessary materials
- Any necessary permission forms required by the school or division
