BG 26.2 & Half Marathon Volunteer Interest Survey
Since the Med Center 10K Classic was switched to virtual, we found another race we can volunteer for.  

Mrs. Herrington and Mrs. Newport are working with one of the BG 26.2 & Half Marathon coordinators to provide a service opportunity for the returning 7th and 8th grade Jr. Beta Club students.  Before we can continue planning, we wanted to see how much interest there is from students to volunteer for this event.  We are not quite sure what the volunteering will look like; however, we will practice COVID prevention measures when appropriate (such as masking, social distancing, etc.).  If your child is interested in volunteering, please complete this form by Sept. 15th, 2021.

We will need a minimun of 12 student volunteers.

Event Overview/Expectations
Students will need a parent/guardian/older sibling to drop them off and pick them up promptly at the scheduled times.  We do not yet have a time slot for the volunteers, but the earliest race begins at 7:00am, and we may need students there as early as 6:30am.  The event should end before noon, but may end a little earlier or run a little over.  At least one of the beta sponsors will be in attendance (Mrs. Newport) and possibly both of us to provide supervision for our beta students.  If your child is disruptive or unable to fullfil their volunteer duties, we will contact home to have the student picked up.  Volunteer duties may include helping to direct racers to a specific starting line, helping prepare water, helping to distribute race materials, directing patrons, etc.  Once we know how many students want to volunteer, we will be able to figure out what jobs our betas will be able to help with during race day.  

* We will need parents/guardians to sign a waiver in order to participate.  You can see a picture of that below.  If you child particpates, her or she can pick up a waiver from Mrs. Herrington or Mrs. Newport closer to the date.  We will put it on the afternoon annoucements and in the google classroom.
