Virtual Itty Project - Mentor Form
The global pandemic has changed how we work, when we work, and who we get to work with. Currently many undergraduate research opportunities and "hands-on" experiences are cancelled. Undergraduate students are missing out on critical time to develop skills, interests, and general exposure to science! I have a team of ~40 internationally distributed students who are looking for opportunities to gain an insight into scientific research. If you have an old dataset that needs dusting off, literature to search through, figures to remake, microscopy images to analyze, or even just data that needs to be reorganized ... you can host a VIP! Please fill out the following form and we will be in touch!

VASE students are going to be given small "honoraria" for their time doing research. This  is why we ask for these projects to be "itty" & not take up too much of anyone's time. We understand that this is not idea nor exceptionally equitable.VASE is operated by one person (Molly Matty) and funded entirely by her own postdoc salary. If you are able to provide compensation to your VIP students (in any form), please let me know below in "other".  Alternatively, if you know of mechanisms by which Dr. Matty can apply for small pots of money to fund these projects, please provide that information below!

Should your VIP students have certain specific skills in order to be successful in your VIP? [ex: experience with R or Python, basic understanding of linear algebra]. If so, please list the skills.
If you are unable to put together a VIP would you be interested as being listed as a "Mentor Contact" for the students? Our students are always looking for research mentors and career advice, while expanding their networks. This would likely mean receiving a few questions via email and maybe meeting with students one-on-one [virtually].  You can even pre-record a brief introduction of yourself for the students to get to know you! I would provide your email and information to the students and they could reach out to you independently.
