Sea ID - an application with the ability to identify marine organisms
Dear Sir or Madam,

the main goal of this research is to explore the market of an application and database that the Sea ID team is developing. We would be grateful if you would take a few moments to answer these questions and help us realize this project.

Sea ID is an application that has the ability to identify species of marine organisms. When the user photographs the organism, the application will use algorithms and "machine learning" to tell users relevant and reliable information such as: species name in Latin and the language the user communicates, minimum allowable catch length, endangered status, no-catch period, whether poisonous or venomous species. In case the organism is poisonous or venomous, the application will warn the user to handle it with caution, also if the organism is less than the minimum allowable catch length and/or is endangered, the application will instruct the user to return it to the sea.

In order to better serve students and scientists, we are creating a Sea ID website (database) that will contain all the collected data to which students, scientists and institutions will have access, for their own research. The information on the marine species website will positively impact and enable all students to acquire knowledge and skills needed for their research.

Users will give us (via the app) details on the location of the catch, the length of the catch, etc. The data collected will be of great help to scientists and the government as they will have a better insight into the fishing areas to be protected.

Thank you for taking the time to help us. If you have any questions, here are our email addresses:

Which country are you located in? *
What kind of institution you represent (university, research facility, etc.) Please write the name of the institution. *
Do you think application and database that provides information about marine organisms of the Adriatic, the Mediterranean Sea and other marine areas is needed? *
Would you use this kind of products? *
Downloading the application with core features would be free of charge, but some extra features would be charged via subscription model. These features include: weather forecast, communication with other users, calendar, catch log, to name few. Would you be interested in paying for those features? *
If your answer was positive, please pick a price you would be willing to pay per month. If you do not agree with the offered prices, write in the "Other" your preferred price.

If your answer to the previous question is no, please, explain why.
Database with all the information about marine organisms is other product we are developing. In the first year it will provide information about fish, and with time it will be expanded towards other organisms such as bivalvia, algae and etc. The idea is to offer a monthly subscription to universities and research facilities so that their students and members can access it. Would you or your institution be willing to pay to access this database? *
Would you or your institution be willing to pay for visualization and processing of the collected data? The collected visual data and information, before being published for use to our subscribed user base, would be analyzed (quality and significance), then visualized for easier understanding and use. *
Would you or your institution be willing to pay for visualization and processing of a Real-Time Data? We would allow access to the map where you would be able to view where marine organisms were caught, while you would have all the information (fishing tools, length, species, etc.) about it at your disposal. *
If your answer is positive, please pick a price a range you would be willing to pay per month. If you do not agree with the offered prices, write in the "Other" your preferred price. *
If your answer to the previous question is negative, please, explain why.
Do you think, in the following years, we should expand existing data base or we should divide information regarding the organisms? Also, would you be interested in using entire database or just the information about specific organism? *
If the price goes up as the database expands, would You be willing to pay it or you think the price should stay the same for the existing users? *
Do you think we should divide organisms in the groups so that the users can decide which information they would have access to? *
Please, write any comment, suggestion, criticism that can help us develop our products.
Thank you for your time!        Sea ID development team
