Dear Sir or Madam,
the main goal of this research is to explore the market of an application and database that the Sea ID team is developing. We would be grateful if you would take a few moments to answer these questions and help us realize this project.
Sea ID is an application that has the ability to identify species of marine organisms. When the user photographs the organism, the application will use algorithms and "machine learning" to tell users relevant and reliable information such as: species name in Latin and the language the user communicates, minimum allowable catch length, endangered status, no-catch period, whether poisonous or venomous species. In case the organism is poisonous or venomous, the application will warn the user to handle it with caution, also if the organism is less than the minimum allowable catch length and/or is endangered, the application will instruct the user to return it to the sea.
In order to better serve students and scientists, we are creating a Sea ID website (database) that will contain all the collected data to which students, scientists and institutions will have access, for their own research. The information on the marine species website will positively impact and enable all students to acquire knowledge and skills needed for their research.
Users will give us (via the app) details on the location of the catch, the length of the catch, etc. The data collected will be of great help to scientists and the government as they will have a better insight into the fishing areas to be protected.
Thank you for taking the time to help us. If you have any questions, here are our email addresses:
