Who may apply
Financial aid may be available to sailors with disabilities wishing to participate in Clagett/Oakcliff but who cannot afford the cost. Both full and partial financial awards are made, up to $1,000 per person based upon request.

These scholarships are awarded on a first-come, first-served basis, based on availability.

The purpose of scholarship monies awarded through the Clagett Regatta event is to assist sailors with disabilities who express the desire to develop and improve their racing skills.

Scholarships are limited, based on financial need, and are awarded using the following guidelines:

• Sailor(s) must participate in the pre-regatta clinic and the regatta
• Sailor(s) who have not attended the clinic/regatta in previous years take precedence/priority
• Sailors must complete the scholarship application form, which includes the following short answer questions:
             o Express need and desire for a scholarship
             o Description of the applicant’s level of sailing
             o What does the applicant expect from participating in the clinic/regatta?
             o What will the applicant will give back to the clinic/regatta
• Monies are given to sailors on a first-come, first-serve basis in addition to being based on the letter of desire and financial need.
• To receive scholarship funds applicants must demonstrate to the Scholarship Committee that they have:
             o Registered
             o Identified the boat the applicant will be sailing
             o Secured housing
             o Secured transportation for applicant and boat
             o Secured crew (if applicable)

If not demonstrated at the time of the application, applicants have a 30 day window from notification to provide confirmation of the above checklist to the Scholarship Committee
