When should our August meetup be? *
If we follow our usual habit, our August meetup will be on Sunday August 18. August means back-to-school at universities happens which may complicate attending the meetup for many of our members. Let's see if our habitual third Sunday still works well or if it'd be better to move to a different day for August. For simplicity's sake, I am keeping the time the same and sticking to Sundays for the multiple choice part. Please select "Other" and enter your suggestion there if your suggestion is outside that format
Comments and Suggestions Box *
Please take a moment to write any comments or suggestions here not covered by the above questions. Manifestos are welcome, if you're so inclined.
Aha! A picture of Discovery Green, because I like it.
What's the deadline for sending out follow-up emails/messages after a meetup? *
Follow-up emails/messages are helpful, they include a list of some of the topics we covered, links to relevant things, and generally give someone a picture of what went down at the meetup. Also, I need this to be externally defined or else you won't get follow-up emails/messages according to any sort of reliable or consistent schedule, because that's not how I work.
Should we meet more often than once per month, and if so, what types of meetups would you like to have? *
For example, in no particular order: [()] social meetup where we play board games (settlers of catan) and/or tabletop games (dungeons and dragons) [()] workgroup meetup where we focus on AI-Alignment [()] social meetup where we go to a bar or restaurant, drink alcohol, eat food, and hangout [()] rationality dojo where we focus on improving our art of rationality and reason [()] social meetup where we go...bowling! or walking around the park, skating, biking, looking at art, whatever, as long as it is relatively active compared to meeting in a bar or restaurant. [()] reading group meetup where we read about posthumanism, predictive markets, statistics, whatever seems interesting/relevant to the group.
Are you interested in attending a Rationalists Winter Solstice celebration in Galveston on Saturday December 21? *
Event still needs to be planned, but this was suggested at our last meetup, and I think it sounds like a lot of fun!
