Existing organisations across the UK like repair cafes, parish councils, community centres, libraries, and similar are invited to support visitors with on-site connection to Discord so they can access repair advice from home. This is done through the Global Fixers Discord Server.
We invite you to do this at some point on 21 October 2023 from 11am - 2pm GMT. You can pick any time in this zone that works for you.
- At a minimum a hub needs to have one computer/ device and one person to support use of that computer to participate
- We welcome hubs to also have repair teams, cafes, and whatever support they can available at the same time.
- These hubs would be available for people who would like to socialise, learn how to properly use discord (an online fixers server), and connect with the community.

Why participate?
To accommodate the extremely diverse needs for repair, we want to support uptake of the Global Fixers Discord server to empower people to learn repair skills and use existing resources. This private server is full of "fixers" worldwide who collaboratively help each other problem-solve, diagnose, and fix items that need repair.It has been and is constantly carefully curated so there are no "trolls" or similar and is invite-only.The "fixers" on this server are people of all backgrounds - some help out at repair cafes, some have never attended a repair cafe but enjoy learning how to fix things, etc.
We would like all UK repair cafes to ask leaders/fixers to be present on discord during the session (even if from home) to help with diagnosing, problem solving, and signposting to nearby repair cafes where the people needing repairs could go for the next steps. You can register to do this here.
