As humans, we use humor in a lot of ways; to delight our friends, to see the silver lining, as a defense mechanism. As artists, we are no different. This workshop will explore the various ways and reasons writers and other artists have used humor in their work, including in such unexpected genres as horror and memoir. The workshop will also include four generative mini-writing sessions of no more than 5 minutes, which, coupled with the practical craft aspects of the lecture, should give participants more tools for their Humor in Prose toolbox.
