Uyghur Wellness Initiative:                   Wellness Professional Registration
Thank you for your interest in volunteering as a wellness professional with the Uyghur Wellness Initiative (UWI), or the روھىي ساغلاملىق تەشەببۇسى (Spiritual Wellness Initiative) as it is called in Uyghurche. Your services are a critical part of our mission to provide mental health wellness support to the Uyghur community as they continue to deal with the large-scale human rights abuses happening in their homeland. Uyghurs living in the United States continue to suffer from grief and trauma due to the disappearance, imprisonment, or death of loved ones, and it is our hope that through professional wellness support, they may more easily bear the weight of their burden.

Below is description of the wellness professional role. Please read this section thoroughly before completing the form. If you decide to become a UWI pro bono wellness professional, the information you share here will be considered confidential and only used for matching purposes.

We are so grateful for your consideration and support. Please do not hesitate to reach out with any questions or concerns to uyghurwellness@gmail.com.

Please feel free to share this form with others in your professional network who may be interested in providing wellness counseling: https://bit.ly/3xU0E7B

About the Wellness Professional Role
UWI recognizes and deeply appreciates how vital your expertise and compassion are to supporting the Uyghur community in this time of crisis. It is our priority that Uyghur clients AND wellness professionals find this to be a rewarding experience. Below is a description of what we hope volunteers are able to provide, as well as what UWI hopes to provide in return.

Support for Clients
We hope that volunteers are able to commit to:
Providing pro bono services for 1-2 clients/month;
Attending quarterly meetings (1-2 hours each) to share feedback, ideas and engage in peer-to-peer learning;
Sharing wellness resources/referrals within the peer wellness professional group.

Support for Wellness Professionals
As you generously share your knowledge, time and energy with us through this role, we hope to share our expertise and passion with you in return. As a volunteer, you will be provided with:
An orientation training on Uyghur culture and background on the genocide;
Connection to a group of peer wellness professionals supporting the Uyghur community;
Continued learning through quarterly peer-to-peer meetings (1-2 hours each).

UWI staff is always available to our volunteers. At any point, please feel free to email our team at uyghurwellness@gmail.com. For more urgent questions or concerns, you can also contact Raisa Dibble directly via phone at +1 (407)754-4731.
