Summer Credit Recovery Program Description

Orange High School Summer Credit Recovery is a comprehensive program designed for students in grades 9 through 12. Summer school courses provide students with opportunities to enroll in a course or subject they have previously taken, but did not receive a passing grade. Students will be expected to successfully complete course assessments with a passing grade. Students taking summer school courses for credit are required to attend class for a minimum of 60 hours pursuant to State regulation N.J.A.C. 6:3-1.8(j).

Registration Information

Students may register for summer credit recovery from June 14 , 2021 – June 25, 2021 in the Orange Public School Summer Offering Google Form.  Orange High School reserves the right to cancel classes that do not have sufficient enrollment. Students who legally reside in Orange Township, but who are not students of Orange High School must complete the virtual registration process to attend the summer school credit recovery program. There is not a tuition fee for residents of Orange Township. Students who are non-residents of Orange Township and who desire to attend the Orange High School Summer Credit Recovery Program are subject to a registration and/or tuition fee. Details regarding the fees and payment must be made at the Orange Board of Education which is located at 451 Lincoln Avenue in Orange, N.J. Non-residents of Orange Township and individuals who are not students of Orange High School must present two (2) forms of I.D., and proof of residence (lease, monthly rental statement, deed, etc.) to the Orange High School office. A final transcript and/or final report card from the student’s sending school for school year 2020-2021 must also be submitted to the registration office at the time of registration

Attendance, Tardiness, and Student Code of Conduct

Students are expected to be punctual, prepared and present everyday and for every class. Students may not miss more than two days of class or they will not receive credit for the course. There are NO EXCEPTIONS. The Period I session of the summer program begins at 8:15 a.m. and the Period II session begins at 10:45 a.m. All Orange Public Schools rules and regulations are in effect during the summer school recovery program and are expected to be followed. Incidents of disciplinary violations are considered sufficient grounds for dismissal from the summer credit recovery program. Students will not be allowed to use lockers or parking facilities at Orange High School during summer credit recovery. The use of all electronic/cellular devices other than calculators will not be permitted in the class/building.

Dress Code Policy

The Orange Board of Education dress code policy will be in effect and strictly enforced during the summer credit recovery program. Students will not be allowed in the building/class with halter tops, lewd/transparent clothing, exposed underwear, hats, du-rangs, bonnets, or other clothing that does not comply with the Board of Education policy and/or deemed inappropriate.  The district policy requires students to wear appropriate footwear that fully encloses their foot at all times.  Students will not be allowed to wear sandals, flip-flops, slippers or any other type of open-toe shoes that does not comply with the Board of Education policy and/or deemed inappropriate.  The appropriateness of student wear/dress is at the discretion of Administration.
