ESMS Cross Country Race Permission Form:Hello! Ecole St. Malo School will be hosting the Red River Valley School Division Cross Country Meet at the St. Malo Provincial Park. Cross Country is an individual running sport where students compete against others across natural terrain.
Who?
Grade 3 to Grade 8 students who choose to participate.Students who participate are expected to represent our school well and run the full race to the best of their abilities. Students will race other students of their gender and age only.
Students should sign-up with their homeroom teachers AND bring back the required permission form by October 13, 2022.
Where?
St. Malo Provincial Park. We will not have bus transportation, so students will walk to the park with an adult supervisor before and after the race.
When?
Friday October 14, 2022.
Races begin at approximately 11:15 and everyone ends by 2:00.Allowing students an opportunity to demonstrate their physical skills, collaborate and cooperate with other students. It allows students to track their progress over the years.
Cost and Materials?
There is no cost to participate in this race.
There will be no canteen so a water bottle and bag lunch need to be brought by students who are participating in the race.
Students are expected to have running shoes and dress for the weather on the day of the event.
Risk Factors?
Allowing your child to participate comes with some potential risk. By choosing to sign the permission for you accept the risks associated with this sport.
Weather related illnesses (cold, heat, etc).
Risks associated with running on uneven terrain (falls, sprains, strains… etc.)
Walking to the provincial park across roads.
