Audience Relations - These volunteers provide information to the public and represent the Newfoundland and Labrador Folk Arts Society (NLFAS). They will be stationed at the gates and will circulate and provide directions for patrons throughout the site.
Folk Arts Society Information and Mercantile - These volunteers will be responsible for distributing application forms for FAS Memberships, lottery tickets, and merchandise. These volunteers should be friendly and approachable. Experience in sales transactions is an asset.
Beer Garden Service - This is a fast-paced job serving drinks to patrons in our Beer Garden and assisting with cleanup. Servers are friendly and energetic. Volunteers must be 19 years or older. Hospitality Newfoundland and Labrador’s Responsible Service Certification and prior experience are definite assets, so be sure to indicate these in the comment section of the application form.
Entry Volunteers - This team will be stationed at the Festival entrance and will either scan tickets or wristband patrons. Training will be provided. Calm, personable volunteers are an asset!
Beverage Ticket Sales - This is a fast-paced job selling drink tickets in our Beer Garden. Volunteers must have basic math skills, experience in sales transactions, and a calm demeanor. Must be 19 years or older.
Box Office - These volunteers are friendly, responsible, and love to deal with the public. Volunteers must have basic math skills, experience in sales transactions, and a calm demeanor. Training will be provided for this position.
Lottery Ticket Sales - These enthusiastic volunteers will either be at a station, or circulate throughout the Festival grounds and encourage Festival patrons to support the work of the Folk Arts Society through the sale of lottery tickets.
Inclusion Team - We’re looking for volunteers who are committed to ensuring that people of all abilities have full access to the Folk Festival. Volunteers will work together with the existing Festival team to provide support to Festival attendees as requested, provide information on the inclusive features of the Festival, monitor site access, and give assistance as needed. Training on inclusion will be provided. Good communication skills are an asset. Please indicate any experience you have working with people with any kind of a disability in the comments section of the form although previous experience is not a requirement.
Site Crew - Pre-Festival Set-Up - Before the Festival begins there will be a team of strong and handy volunteers that will assist with the setup of Festival infrastructure. Heavy lifting, carpentry and mechanical skills are an asset here.
Site Crew - During Festival - During the Festival, this team will assist with keeping the Festival site clean and beautiful, maintaining trash and recycling containers, and doing a sweep of the grounds at the end of the night. These volunteers will also alert their supervisor to any maintenance issues needing attention. Heavy lifting may be required.
Site Crew - Post-Festival - After the Festival ends there will be a team of strong and handy volunteers that will assist with the teardown of Festival infrastructure. Heavy lifting, carpentry and mechanical skills are an asset here. Some post-festival volunteers will assist with relocation and organization of supplies to the Folk Arts Society office, and returning banners to sponsors. A valid driver's license would be an asset here.
Instrument Lock-Up - This team will include a limited number of volunteers who will be responsible for checking in and managing musicians’ instruments during Festival hours.
Performer Relations - The Performer Relations team will check in performers. vendors, emcees, and other special guests. Volunteers should be friendly and personable and should dress casually.
Volunteer Relations - The Volunteer Relations team will maintain the volunteer area. They will check in volunteers at the start and end of their shifts, manage refreshments for volunteers, and may be asked to run errands for volunteers who cannot leave their posts.
