Cyprus has not always had the best reputation among Czech officials and businesspeople. For many years, it was regarded as a tax haven. All of this changed, though, with its joining the European Union in 2004, when a number of policies were passed, giving it the status of a transparent member state that still strives to attract in foreign businessmen. At this moment, Cyprus is recognized as a jurisdiction with tax incentives and attractive taxation regimes, particularly for the IT, finance, and intellectual property sectors.
