Redesigned Cal Poly Portal Prototype: User Experience Testing Sign Up
User experience interviews are being conducted to see how the Cal Poly Portal can be improved, especially in light of the unique circumstances presented this year. The purpose of the study is to perform user testing on a prototype of a redesigned Cal Poly Portal to allow a more thorough investigation into how the users (students) interact with these systems. Potential benefits associated with the study include deeper insights into students’ pain points so they can be addressed by designing and adapting future systems accordingly. No one will be required to participate in this study.

If you are 18 years of age or older, please sign up for an interview so students’ experiences can be better understood in order to make improvements to the Cal Poly Portal.

INFORMED CONSENT TO PARTICIPATE IN A RESEARCH PROJECT:
“Redesigned Cal Poly Portal Prototype: User Experience Testing”

INTRODUCTION
This form asks for your agreement to participate in a research project on user experience testing of a prototype of a redesigned Cal Poly Portal. Your participation involves a user experience interview. It is expected that your participation will take approximately thirty minutes to one hour. There are no risks anticipated with your participation. You may personally benefit from this study and others may benefit from your participation. If you are interested in participating, please review the following information:

PURPOSE OF THE STUDY AND PROPOSED BENEFITS
The purpose of the study is to perform user testing on a prototype of a redesigned Cal Poly Portal to allow a more thorough investigation into how the users (students) interact with these systems.
Potential benefits associated with the study include deeper insights into students’ pain points so they can be addressed by designing and adapting future systems accordingly.

YOUR PARTICIPATION
If you agree to participate, you will be asked to attend a recorded Zoom call where you will share your screen, thoughts, and comments as you go through two to three tasks utilizing the virtual lab systems. The sessions will be auto-transcribed using Otter.ai with transcript corrections by the researchers and participants will be given the opportunity to review the transcript. Recordings will be stored on an encrypted hard drive and shared with the project team via encrypted email and file submission processes; recordings will be destroyed after transcription has occurred.
Your participation will take approximately thirty to sixty minutes in one session.

PROTECTIONS AND POTENTIAL RISKS
Please be aware that you are not required to participate in this research, refusal to participate will not involve any penalty or loss of benefits to which you are otherwise entitled, and you may discontinue your participation at any time. You may omit responses to any questions you choose not to answer and will be given the opportunity to review the Zoom meeting recording.
There are no risks related to your participation.
Your confidentiality will be protected as your name and other identifying information will not be used in reports of this research.
