BACKGROUND

National networks of people living with HIV have become partner organizations with The Sero Project to produce HIV is Not a Crime IV (HINAC4), a biennial training academy for people living with HIV and allied advocates working to end HIV criminalization.  

The four networks--Positively Trans, Positive Women’s Network-USA. THRIVE SS,  and the U.S. PLHIV Caucus--will each be represented on the HINAC Executive Committee, responsible for general oversight and major decisions, such as selecting the host city, venue and date.

There are six Work Groups:  Fundraising, Hospitality & Culture, Program, Outreach & Media, Scholarship, and Venue & Logistics and each will be co-chaired by representatives from the partner organizations and Sero.

The first HIV is Not a Crime training academy was held at Grinnell College and produced by Sero Project.  The second and third HINAC events were held at the University of Alabama/Huntsville and University of Indiana/Purdue University and produced by Sero in partnership with Positive Women’s Network.

The new partnership for the fourth HINAC reflects the growing cooperation and mutual support between PLHIV networks in the U.S.  Strengthening the structure of PLHIV networks across the country is a core part of Sero’s mission.
