Year 5 - Revegetation and Riparian Planting Project - Hamilton Park
Keith McRobbie, the Parks and Recreation Manager for the Gore District Council has given us the opportunity to be part of a cool project he is running in conjunction with the Rotary Club and some other community groups.

In recent times they have removed a whole heap of gums and poplars from the area and had the green waste material chipped and spread back over the site. Their intention is to plant 2500 to 3000 revegetation grade native plants back into the site in late March and early April 2022 (the end of the first term).  As part of the planting, they will install biodegradable plant guards to protect each plant from pests and the elements.

We are busing our year 5 students over to Hamilton Park on Thursday 12th May to help with the project. There is no cost for this. They will accompanied by myself and another adult and there will be other people there to help us. We will leave school at 10am and will be back by lunch time.

Children will need to bring:
- morning tea and a drink bottle
- children can wear mufti (to school) - gumboots and some old clothes would possibly be the best idea, a sunhat or beanie depending on the weather

Cheers,
Mallory
