This session will include what advocacy looks like and what it shouldn’t look like, how to know when to step in and when to let your child work through something, and how to collaborate with the educators in your child(ren)’s lives. We will also discuss where you can go and what resources are available if your issue isn’t being resolved at the school level.

Let’s Talk 2E

“Twice-exceptional students are difficult to identify and support because they possess the characteristics of gifted students and the characteristics of students with disabilities. Gifted characteristics may mask disabilities, or disabilities may mask gifted potential; either students’ strengths, disabilities, or both may not be identified.  This difficulty in identifying and supporting twice-exceptional students can put them at risk of having their academic or social-emotional needs misunderstood or go unnoticed.” (Colorado Department of Education website)

Please join Jeffco’s 2e specialist Tina Glass and GT SELC Casey Gardner for a discussion on how to identify and support the unique needs of our 2e students

Wednesday, January 10, 2024 from 6-7:30 pm
