Thank you for taking the time to notify us about your Spotted Lanternfly sighting. Unfortunately, Spotted Lanternfly is established in Nelson County and there is no longer a need to report sightings of Spotted Lanternfly to the Nelson County VCE office. This form exists to collect information about your sighting; there is no need to call the Nelson VCE office. We find that the high call volume for Spotted Lanternfly sightings has overloaded our small local office, keeping us from addressing other issues in our community.
Virginia Tech has a webpage with our current spotted lanternfly information, including fact sheets and information about the quarantine, see: https://ext.vt.edu/agriculture/commercial-horticulture/spotted-lanternfly.html
Control and management for Spotted Lanternfly in home and public landscapes can be found here: https://www.pubs.ext.vt.edu/content/dam/pubs_ext_vt_edu/ENTO/ento-344/ENTO-344.pdf
Businesses that ship from spotted lanternfly infested counties to non-infested counties may need a permit. Information on spotted lanternfly from VDACS can be found here:
