Media Assistant Application
So you want to be a media assistant?
Please read the full job description before you fill out the application. There will be a quiz.

Skill sets needed:
Attention to Detail - seriously. You will be putting books in both numeric and alphabetical order. A lot. If you do not think you'll be able to pay attention and shelve correctly then this probably isn't the right class for you. Shelving is not an exciting job, but you're trying to work in a library...where books need to be in order.

Helpful attitude - Libraries are places where people often need lots of help. They need help from friendly people who make them feel comfortable and know how to help them locate materials.

Hard worker - much of what you do is self-directed. You’ll need to be able to work on your own and as part of a group.

Customer service excellence - we strive to be kind, nice and helpful to everyone who uses the library. Greet people as they enter, direct them where they need to go.

Good attendance record - the majority of your grade is participation based. If attendance is an issue, this may not be a good match for you.

As a media assistant you are the face of the library! That means you’ll not only be responsible for helping JHS students, teachers and staff with their information needs, but you’ll also be the one making sure that the library is a great place to be.

Just some of the things you’ll be doing:
     - Keeping the books in order and looking good
     - Collection maintenance (inventory, processing books, etc.)
     - Straightening and tidying (this does mean cleaning)
     - Information Literacy related assignments
     - Other duties as assigned - we support the needs of faculty, administration and students

Please note that there are assignments for this class. We will use Canvas. If you feel you would not be able to (or want to) be a helpful member of the library team, please consider other options.
