Philly Queer Birders started on a bit of a whim in March 2021 out of a desire to meet more queer people who enjoy birding and to promote a pandemic-safe activity during a time that felt very isolating. PQB grew very fast and while we had so much fun birding with everyone in 2021, much of what we did was a bit of trial and error. Our mission and focus were very fluid and we were (and still are) learning from many friends in the local and national birding scene. We hope to move into 2022 with more intent and feedback from our community! So far, we have solidified a few goals for 2022:
- More collaboration and communication with our fellow birding groups In Color Birding Club, Feminist Bird Club Philly, and BirdPhilly.
- More stationary birding events (like our October Little Sit!) to promote accessibility and community.
- More partnerships with local parks, communities, and organizations.
- Hopefully bringing on more leaders and organizers to grow our capacity for facilitating outings and events.
The purpose of this survey is to help solidify how we will meet these goals and to identify new ones. All questions are optional, but we hope you will take a few minutes to provide your thoughts and feedback.
If you are interested in learning more about getting involved on an organizational/leadership level, you can leave your email as an answer to the first question or reach out to us. You don't need to be an expert at birding, just excited about bringing queer folks together in the outdoors!
Thank you so much for taking the time to complete this! If you have any questions, you can email
