Texas Brigades Summer Camps - 2024 CADET Application

Thank you for your interest in Texas Brigades Summer Camps! Please read all instructions carefully. 

We are looking for 13-17* year old students (*applicants may be 18 if they are incoming high school seniors) who are highly motivated, active in a variety of extracurricular activities, and interested in learning more about the outdoors, wildlife, and natural resource conservation.

• South Texas Buckskin Brigade (June 9-13 in La Pryor, TX)
• Rolling Plains Bobwhite Brigade (June 10-14 in Rising Star, TX)
• South Texas Bobwhite Brigade (June 22-26 in McCoy, TX)
• South Texas Ranch Brigade (June 22-26 in Freer, TX)
• Bass Brigade (July 9-13 in Santa Anna, TX)
• Ranch Brigade (July 15-19 in Santa Anna, TX)
• Waterfowl Brigade (July 17-21 in Garwood, TX)
• North Texas Buckskin Brigade (July 21-25 in Santa Anna, TX)
• Coastal Brigade (July 23-27 in Galveston, TX)

2024 Summer Camps, specific locations, and dates are mentioned throughout the website and application; please consider both your parent's/guardian's AND your summer schedule when making your camp preference selections. We encourage cadet applicants and parents to complete this application TOGETHER to ensure accuracy of information. Essay questions must be the original work of the cadet applicant (not a parent).

About the Texas Brigades Cadet Selection Process
Admission is COMPETITIVE. All applications submitted before the March 15th deadline are pooled by camp preferences and graded by each camp's committee. Applications are "blind", meaning no personal identifying information is provided to the committees prior to selection. The quality of an applicant's hobbies, interests, and essay questions is important! Depending on each camp's capacity, the top 24 - 30 applicants are selected and will be notified of their acceptance on or before April 15, 2024.
Required Paperwork & Payment
DEPOSIT ($100)
If you are selected to attend camp, you must secure your spot at camp with a $100 non-refundable deposit, which will be applied toward your $500 camp tuition. Deposits for ALL 2024 Camps are due by May 15, 2024. If your deposit is not received by the deadline, your spot will be offered to another cadet and your application will be added to a waitlist.

RELEASES & TUITION BALANCE
Required releases will be distributed upon acceptance to a camp through our online CampDoc system. Requirements will include releases, medical information, and a code of conduct. Releases and tuition are due IN FULL by the following deadlines:

• May 24th (STBUB & RPBB Only) – Paid in Full & CampDoc Health Profile Complete

• June 7th (STBOB & STRB Only) – Paid in Full & CampDoc Health Profile Complete

• June 26th (BASS & RANCH Only) – Paid in Full & CampDoc Health Profile Complete

• July 3rd (WTFL, NTBB & COAST Only) – Paid in Full & CampDoc Health Profile Complete

Application Instructions & Essay Questions
PLEASE READ ALL INSTRUCTIONS CAREFULLY! Responses WILL NOT be saved if you leave this application page before submitting. Be prepared to type or transfer your answers from another document to answer the essay questions (~250 word responses). 

The 2024 Cadet Application Questions are:
  1. Why do you believe it is important for your generation to be educated about land stewardship and natural resource conservation?
  2. What qualities make someone an effective leader, and how can you build and use these types of qualities to be a leader in your own community?
