Hello Neighbor,

An active topic with significant impact to Glendale is the future of the North Shore Library.

To collect feedback from my constituents, I am conducting this online survey as well as a door to door survey using random addresses.

At this point, Glendale has two options:
1) Join again with the North Shore Library and pay operating costs based on a 5% fixed contribution by community and the remainder based on population. This reduces Glendale’s overall funding percentage to 49.23% from 50.72%, a 3.6% financial savings in the long run. Glendale’s capital obligation for the new library is yet to be negotiated. Glendale has provided the current library space essentially free of charge for the past 35 years to the other North Shore communities.

2) Go to referendum to see if the Glendale community will support our own Glendale Library at higher cost to Glendale.

Do you believe Glendale should have their own library if it requires higher taxes? For a $250,000 home, this would be about $85/year for increased operating costs, and about an additional $100/year for debt service on a new location, resulting in about $185/year increase to taxpayers. This could be reduced perhaps 25% depending on the property chosen and by reducing level of service. Perhaps reduced even further through fund raising. *
