The 2022 Clinical Hepatopathology Certificate Program(CHC)

Target audience:
Pathologists and hepatologist seeking training in the principles and practice of
hepatopathology from all around the world are encouraged to apply. However,
applicants from India, as well as low- and middle-income countries in all parts of the
world, are given priority.
Program Objectives:
1)Identify the key principles in the liver biopsy processing for LM and special stains.
Review the different histopathologic techniques and their purpose.
2) Recognize different patterns of liver injury observed on a liver biopsy, with respect to
clinical presentation and impact on clinical management.
3) Use newly gained knowledge of specific liver syndromes or diseases (e.g., acute liver
injury, autoimmune disease, cholestatic disease, metabolic disease, steatotic
disease,transplant hepatology) to infer pathophysiologic mechanisms and apply this
to the management of patients.
5)Use updated knowledge of liver pathology for better patient management.
Program Structure:
The CHC program includes over 50 recorded online lectures (3-4/ month) and 12 live
webinars (one each month) made available over a one-year period.
The course attendees are required to attend >80% of the live webinars and obtain a
“pass” (a score of 70%) in a mid-year and a final exam in order to receive the
certificate.
Resource persons Biodata
Dr Nalini Bansal Gupta is a histopathologist with over 14 years of experience in the specialty. Dr Nalini is MD pathology (Gold Medalist), DNB, MNAMS and PDCC superspeciallized in Gastro and Hepatopathology. She is an Editorial Board Member of Indian Journal of Pathology and Microbiology. She is  reviewer of 10National and International Journals, Pathology outlines and a Member of Indian Association of Study of Liver Diseases, Hans Popper Hepatopathology Society, USA and Indian association of Transplantation. She is a Scholar of International Society of Nephropathology. She is recipient of UICC Technical Fellowship at UK. She was also trained at LRCTC London (UK) and in liver transplant pathology at QE Birmingham UK. She has published extensively and had over 50 National and International publications including several Original and Review articles. She has been won several awards at National level in Histopathology. She has been invited at an eminent speaker and Chairperson at various CME’s. She is Chief editor of a multiauthor book on Liver Biopsies titled "Liver Biopsy Made Easy” first such publication from India subcontinent. She pioneered the first yearly online Clinical Hepatopathology Course the first of its kind online education for students having keen desire to learn.
