Format and Time Control
  • 7 Round Swiss Dutch FIDE JaVaFo
  • Standard: 60 minutes with 30 seconds increment from move 1
  • FIDE Classical Rated / ACF Classical Rated / QJ Rated
Eligibility and Membership Requirements

  • Open to adults and juniors, there are no restrictions on the participants. However, foreign players will need to obtain a FIDE ID number from their National Federation and advise that number prior to their entry being accepted.
  • Australian Citizens & Permanent residents without FIDE ID number will need to provide a date of birth prior to the start of the event or their entry will not be accepted.
  • Players must be members of their respective state associations. Queensland players must be financial members of the Chess Association of Queensland (CAQ). CAQ Membership Registration: https://caq.org.au/registration-2/

Tournament Rules

  • Games will be played according to the FIDE Laws of Chess.
  • Byes: Up to two half points byes may be requested (not in the final two rounds) as per the tournament rules. Bye requests in advance should be emailed to info.marschessclub@gmail.com
  • Tie Break Method: 1.Direct Encounter; 2.Buchholz Median; 3.Buchholz Total; 4.Sum of Progressive Scores.

Prize
  • 1st: $1000 + Trophy
  • 2nd: $600 + Trophy
  • 3nd: $400 + Trophy
  • 3 x Rating groups: $300 each
  • Unrated: $200
  • Medals for top 3 in U8/U10/U12/U18
  • Prizes will increase if entries reach 100 players.
  • In case of a tie, the Tournament titles and trophies will be decided on tie-break but all prize money for placings will be evenly split.
