The National Capital Area Chapter (NCAC) of the American Planning Association represents public and private sector planners, planning academics and students, elected officials, and citizen planners in Washington, DC, and Montgomery and Prince George’s Counties, MD.
The National Capital Area Chapter serves you through:
COMMUNICATION
Regular communications from the Chapter about events, job opportunities, its annual report, and news about the Chapter and APA.
PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT
Educational and networking events featuring speakers, discussion of timely issues and projects, and field trips.
OUTREACH
Improving access to and awareness of the planning profession by offering a Chapter-only membership option.
ANNUAL CONFERENCE
A conference in the Washington, DC region providing educational and networking opportunities.
LOCAL PLANNING AWARDS
Presentation of NCAC-APA awards in recognition of outstanding projects and planners at a biennial event.
CHAPTER-ONLY RESTRICTIONS
Chapter-only membership does not include membership to the American Planning Association nor any of the benefits associated with a national membership.
As a Chapter-Only member, you will not be entitled to:
- National APA publications, or other National APA services, such as legislative representation in Washington.
- Eligibility as a member of the American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP).
- A discount at the national APA conference.
- The ability to vote in national APA elections.
