UNA-Pasadena /Poly Campus Chapter -UN Day 2023 : Human Rights 75 featuring Arn Chorn Pond (Monday, October 23, 2023 (6-7:15pm)
Join us for an engaging evening to celebrate the founding of the United Nations 78 years ago, the UNA Pasadena chapter invites you to participate in this year's UN Day event taking place at Polytechnic School on Monday, October 23 from 6-7:15pm.
Equality, Freedom, and Justice for All, UNA-USA’s theme for UN Day 2023, aims to commemorate 75 year of Universal Human Rights. With this theme, The Pasadena chapter will hear from the renowned human rights activist, musician, and Cambodian genocide survivor, Arn Chorn Pond. As the subject of the award-winning memoir Never Fall Down, the PBS documentary The Flute Player, and the founder of Cambodian Living Arts, Arn inspires change with incredible stories of hope, endurance, and survival through the power of music. Arn will tell us the riveting story of how music saved his life, about the role of the arts in transforming society on a wider scale, especially in post-conflict contexts, and how the re- emergence of arts in Cambodia can be a model for other countries.
Finally the audience will learn about how awardees of our UN Day 2023 Video Challenge are working on the SDGs to ensure freedom, peace and justice for all.
Youth members are invited to participate in a video challenge to earn a $500 donation to the non-profit organization of their choosing (must have a 501(c)(3) status).
