Freshman Honors Application for English and Math

This year we are offering our students the opportunity to apply for our honors English and Math Section. To be considered, the application must be completed by this Friday, July 31st.

In order to be eligible for the honors section, you must have obtained an overall yearly average of 80% in your 8th Grade coursework. You must also have an exceptional attendance record and a disciplinary record free of infractions. Applications will reviewed by a team of teachers and Summer MAP scores will also be considered. I am aware that participation in the Honors section is rigorous and demanding.

I believe that I have the necessary academic background, commitment and motivation to succeed.

I am prepared to make a commitment to stay in the class for one year and I am aware that my grade will be part of my permanent high school record.

I recognize that success in these courses requires that I may need to sacrifice school sponsored and community activities, especially those that require me to miss school or require evening hours.

I understand that NOT completing coursework and homework when assignments are due may result in my removal from the Honors Section.

I understand that I am expected to uphold myself to the highest level of academic integrity. Should I commit any acts which involve plagiarism, cheating, or any other acts of academic dishonesty, I may be removed from the Honors Section.

I am aware that should I accrue more than (3) disciplinary infractions I may be removed from the Honors Section.

I am aware that should my averages in these classes fall below a 70%, I may be removed from the Honors Section.

I am aware that completing this application does not assure me of placement in the Honors Section.
