COHAN is developing a court watch program to put the court on notice that they are being seen and hopefully have an impact on how the magistrates and landlords and landlord attorneys treat tenants in court. Currently, there is no one in the courtroom who is required to bear witness to the tenant's humanity and dignity of the process. Tenant attorneys try to do this but not every tenant has an attorney — and not everything that is unfair or unjust is illegal in the courtroom.
