COVID-19 Classes for Kids (CCFK) Volunteer Form
Thank you for your interest in improving education about the rapidly evolving COVID-19 pandemic! Fill out the form below so that we can connect you virtually with classrooms around the country. Please read the following paragraphs carefully before proceeding!

We will add you to our CCFK listserv and regularly inform you whenever there are openings available for you to teach a virtual, interactive lesson with a classroom over a video calling platform. Whenever there are openings, we will distribute an official sign-up spreadsheet so that you can choose which grade level (you can indicate any level between 4th grade and 12th grade) and classroom schedule best meet your preferences. You are free to unsubscribe to the CCFK listserv at anytime but we expect you to commit to teach any virtual lesson for which you officially sign up.

You can sign up to teach as many or as few virtual lessons as you want, so the time commitment is flexible. Each lesson will be approximately 30 minutes to 1 hour long and we anticipate your individual preparation time to be approximately 2-2.5 hours per class. The virtual lessons can cover a wide range of topics including the natural history of SARS-CoV-2, the pathophysiology of COVID-19, cutting edge vaccine development research, pandemic-related policy interventions around the world, hate crimes against Asian-Americans following the pandemic’s inception, and even basic hand-washing techniques. Once you are assigned a classroom educator, please coordinate with them to discuss the COVID-19-related topics and lesson length that best fit the needs and interests of that particular classroom.

You can also sign up to teach with a friend (who is also a health professions graduate student)! Please have your friend submit this form as well. In the comments section at the end of this form, just indicate the name of the person with whom you would like to teach, and have your friend do the same.

If you know of any classroom educators (perhaps a former grade school teacher of yours!) who might be interested in signing up their students for virtual lessons taught by CCFK, please ask them to fill out this form: https://forms.gle/NpUuQLuRLzLBx4WR9

The CCFK executive team will provide you with a database of vetted COVID-19 resources and sample lesson outlines to inform the accuracy and quality of your virtual lessons, but we encourage you to exercise creativity in designing your own lesson plans (perhaps incorporate games, Q&A, documentary clips, memes - feel free to think out of the box!).

We look forward to collaborating with you!
