Theme:
Building the Future Through Student Engagement with Data and Statistics Monday, July 30, 2024: 11:00-3:30 Eastern Time
Tuesday, July 31, 2024: 11:00-3:30 Eastern Time
The program schedule is posted at
www.amstat.org/education/mwm.
The MWM program provides middle and high school mathematics and science teachers an opportunity to discuss and apply the data analysis, data science, and statistical concepts embodied in the NCTM Catalyzing Change books and the American Statistical Association’s (ASA) Guidelines for Assessment and Instruction in Statistics Education (GAISE) Pre-K-12 Curriculum Framework. The MWM program includes examining what students can be expected to do at the most basic level of understanding data analysis and what can be expected of them as their skills develop and experience broadens. Teachers will learn to use strategies and technology tools that support students’ learning and can empower them to investigate questions using real world data.
This workshop is being conducted on behalf of the Joint Committee of the American Statistical Association and the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics.
The workshop is free, though space is limited and advance registration is required. Participants engaged throughout the workshop will also receive a certificate documenting 10 hours of professional learning that may be submitted to your local agency for CEUs.
