2𝟬% 𝗼𝗳 𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗯𝗼𝗼𝗸 𝘀𝗮𝗹𝗲 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗰𝗲𝗲𝗱𝘀 𝗴𝗼 𝘁𝗼 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗥𝗲𝗱 𝗣𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗹 (𝗦𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗮𝗽𝗼𝗿𝗲), who are a non-for-profit organisation helping children, elderly, individuals to achieve improved mental and emotional health through art therapy. They have local programmes, and also overseas mission trips.

𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝗦𝗼𝗻𝗴𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗝𝘂𝗹𝘆 𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗯𝗼𝗼𝗸 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁?

Songs for July (2019) artbook was a little square book self-published in 2019. It was inspired by the idea of how what we create- our art, our music, anything actually - that expresses ourselves, can contribute to our mental and emotional health.

So, I invited my friends (both overseas and local) and family (basically my community) to share their personal take on why art is important to them, how they cope with difficult emotions, and to share about a song that pushes them forward through difficult times.

𝗔𝗿𝘁 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗺𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗰 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗹. 𝗔𝗻𝗱 𝘄𝗲 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗹, 𝗶𝗻 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗼𝘄𝗻 𝘂𝗻𝗶𝗾𝘂𝗲 𝘄𝗮𝘆. 𝗧𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗯𝗼𝗼𝗸 𝗶𝘀 𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗵𝗼𝘄 𝘄𝗲 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝗼𝗯𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗰𝗹𝗲𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝗽𝗮𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗻𝗲𝘅𝘁 𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆 𝗶𝗻 𝗹𝗶𝗳𝗲.

In this book, you will find an illustrated story, featuring 15 different stories from my community, as well as their art, and recommended songs. Sadly, we can't have the song lyrics written in the book due to copyright, so there is poetry inspired by the songs. While the illustrated story and poetry is by me, the beautiful art and interviews featured are from my friends and family. I have them to thank very much for being brave to share.
