NEWYA Application Form 2024-25
This application allows you to express your interest in participating in Youth Apprenticeship (YA).

Youth Apprenticeship is an “earn while you learn” program for Juniors and Seniors. No matter what a Youth Apprentice decides to do after high school, they will be more prepared because of their experience in the workforce. Youth Apprenticeship students benefit from the program by:
  • Earning High School credit
  • Gaining career-specific knowledge in class
  • Reflecting on growth and goals
  • Having work release time
  • Making money
  • Developing general employability skills
  • Acquiring entry-level, hands-on experience
  • Receiving on-the-job training
  • Accepting mentorship
  • Building a professional network
  • Obtaining a state-issued skills certificate
Do you already have a job, and want it to become a Youth Apprenticeship? Is this job bringing you closer to your career goals? If you answered yes to both of these questions, you are in a great place to turn your work experience into part of your high school academic plan. We will work with your employer to introduce them to YA and find out if they accept the requirements.

Do you already have a job, but would like one more relevant to your career goals? We will work together to find employment that will allow you to develop career-related knowledge and experience. We will help you to create application materials, identify employers, practice interviewing, and navigate communication throughout the job search.

Or maybe you don't have a job yet? No worries! First, we will work together to identify your career interests and goals. After you have identified what type of job to pursue, we will begin the job search for a position that will provide you with entry-level experience in that area. We will help you to create application materials, identify employers, practice interviewing, and navigate communication throughout the job search.

The Northeast Wisconsin Youth Apprenticeship (NEWYA) program can not guarantee enrollment. YA applicants must independently obtain employment. Our program will support you throughout the job search, but ultimately, you are responsible for taking the steps necessary to be hired by an employer. This employer must also agree to the YA program's requirements set forth by the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development (WI DWD). You must also maintain that employment while meeting expectations set by your High School to continue participating.

Note: If you do not receive a copy of your responses by email, your application was not submitted. We primarily communicate important information through email. It is critical that you check your email on a daily basis.
