Child Dedication at Antioch Houston
Our May 12th Baby/Child Dedication is just around the corner!

The Baby/Child Dedication is a time for parents to petition God and publicly declare their intention to raise their child to seek, hear, and obey God so that they may know and love God more.

If you, or someone you know, would like to dedicate a child (or children) during our Sunday morning service on May 12th, please read and complete the form below.  Please complete ONE response for EACH CHILD YOU ARE DEDICATING.

What do we mean by "dedicate"?
Parents can guide, teach, pray for, and lead their children, but unfortunately cannot choose a life path for their child. So even though we speak of dedicating the child to the Lord, dedication is really a matter of you, the parent, petitioning God for help as you desire to DEDICATE YOURSELF to the purposes of the Lord for your child.   *

With that in mind, there are 3 things you will be asking God to help you with on this journey of dedicating yourself:
The best thing you can do for your child is to personally seek, hear, and obey Jesus Christ, get to know Him and love Him more.  Deut. 6 instructs you to love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. *

The next best thing you can do for your child is to love your spouse well in Christ and raise your child within a caring Christ following community.  We know that raising children takes a team effort.  Whether we are talking about the marriage relationship, or our love for one another in community, you are a reflection of Christ and His love for the church.   *
Last, but not least, there is the instruction to raise your child in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.  Deut. 6 says, "These commands that I give you today are to be upon your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up."  Ephesians 6 tells us: "Parents do not exasperate your children; instead, bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord."   *
