Culture Corps - Spring 2020 Events
Spring 2020 is going to be a busy semester for Culture Corps events.  These events are an opportunity to learn more about our local school system while sharing your country with Americans and interacting with people in the Raleigh Community.  Transportation is always provided by OIS (if needed) and each event is open to volunteers from all countries unless otherwise noted.  All times listed below INCLUDE travel time to and from the event from OIS.  You may sign up for as few or as many events as you'd like!

                                            ------------ Spring 2020 Culture Corps Events ---------------

The following events are International Festival/Table-style events - they tend to be less formal and are a lot of fun.  Each country is represented by volunteers stationed at country-specific tables located around the school and the children rotate in small groups from table to table to learn about the world.  Pictures and cultural artifacts are wonderful things to bring with you.  OIS has some cultural items for use at school events and can help with printing materials.

***Briarcliff Elementary School  - April 28th, 4:30 PM to 8:00 PM (event is from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM)
***Smith Magnet Elementary School - April 16th, 8:30 AM to 12:30 PM and/or 12:15 PM to 3:45 PM
***Smith Elementary School - April 16th, 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM (event is from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM)

The following events are looking for volunteers to present their countries in a classroom environment.  OIS staff will work with you to prepare and presentations are generally 15-30 minutes long.  It's a great way to practice your presentation skills while helping children learn about the world.

***Forestville Road Elementary School - March 31st, 8:30 AM to 12:30 PM (event is from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM)
***Smith Magnet Elementary School - April 16th, 8:30 AM to 12:30 PM and/or 12:15 PM to 3:45 PM
***Smith Elementary School - April 16th, 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM (event is from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM)
