Mapping and Landscaping of Pathogen Genomics Policies and Standards in Africa
The Africa Pathogen Genomics Initiative (Africa PGI) is an initiative of the Africa CDC Institute for Pathogen Genomics, a continent-wide leadership initiative established in 2019 to support public health Pathogen Genomics and Bioinformatics across Africa. Africa PGI aims to maximize the benefits of Next Generation Sequencing technologies by empowering public health experts in the continent with the tools, training and coordination needed for data-driven decision-making for preventing and responding to disease threats.  In line with this, the Africa CDC has embarked on a plan to establish a continent-wide guidance document on pathogen genomic policies and standards. In order, to achieve this this goal, the Africa CDC is mapping existing policies and standards in the continent. The findings of this exercise will be utilized to develop guidance on pathogen genomics policies.
