Orchestra North Residency Application
The Orchestra North Residency (August 2-14, 2021)  provides intensive orchestral and chamber music studies with leadership and teaching opportunities for musicians interested in professional development.

A project of the Orchestra North Academy, the Residency Program serves professional musicians who wish to improve their skills, gain performance and teaching experience, and hone their abilities as performers. The Residency provides musicians an opportunity to play for and with other musicians, to connect with a professional network of northern BC's musicians, and to experience the beauty of northern BC as participants of its thriving art scene.

We welcome applications from professional musicians, from those still studying and from those who have completed training but want an intensive musical experience to refresh their musicianship. Invitations to apply are extended to players of strings, flute, oboe, bassoon, clarinet, horn, harp or piano.

While all residents will have opportunities for development of solo and ensemble playing and performance, applicants are encouraged to list their preference of one of two streams, each of which with a different focus. The Affinare stream (A) will involve a more intensive 2-week program involving daily musical activities. The Belleza stream (B) serves as an artistic retreat- it will involve a less intensive 2-week program that includes regularly scheduled activities mixed with optional activities and ample free time for practice, outdoor activities and artistic pursuits.

This is a competitive program. Applications are due June 18 and invitations to selected residents sent by June 21.

Note that due to generous volunteer time spent on grants and community generosity in sponsorships, all accepted Academy musicians receive full bursaries for the costs of the programs, a modest allowance for food and travel.
