The National Federation of High School Associations requires all sports
officials to enforce the sportsmanship rules for coaches and contestants. Acts meant to demean opposing players, teams, spectators and officials are not in the highest ideals of interscholastic sport and will not be tolerated. Let this contest reflect mutual respect.
I hereby certify to the Referee and/or Meet Director that my contestants are legally equipped and in compliance with all uniform regulations (including the jewelry regulations) as per National Federation of High School Athletic Associations and the New Jersey State Interscholastic Athletic Association. I have also given all members of my team instructions in the area of sportsmanship and expected behavior at these meets. Also, all members of my team are aware of the sportsmanship policy as stated below:
There will be no tolerance for negative statements or actions between opposing players and coaches. This includes taunting, baiting, berating opponents, “trashtalking” or actions which ridicule or cause embarrassment to them. Any verbal, written or Physical conduct related to race, gender, ethnicity, disability, sexual orientation or religion shall not be tolerated and could subject the violator to ejection, and may result in penalties being assessed against your team.
I am aware that continued problems in these areas may lead to disciplinary action against me under the sportsmanship rules.
