Hirzel Farms Cover Crop Trial Discussion

When faced with a bare piece of cropland, our friends at Hirzel Farms in Luckey, Ohio, set up a cover crop trial using a custom mix. Bridget Burgess and Lou Kozma will walk us through what they chose and why. Come join in conversation about what we might learn from this trial and how it might be replicated at other farms.

Located in Wood County, Hirzel Farms was founded in 1923. Their operation includes over 1,000 acres of food grade certified organic grains, conventional production and processing of tomatoes and cabbage, seed cleaning and grain processing, seed sales, an organic composting facility, and research.

This online event is part of the Organic Farmer-Research Network. We are a group of organic and transitioning growers, researchers, and educators from various Ohio organizations. We gather monthly online with the goal of building relationships among growers, educators, and researchers to further practical research that will support organic farmers and a healthy, robust food system. New participants are welcome.
