The Board is the elected, policy-making body of the Chamber & Welcome Center whose members represent the business and professional leadership of the community.
The future of the Glenwood Lakes Area Chamber of Commerce & Welcome Center rests with the leadership selected in this process.
Serving on the board is a rewarding experience and an
opportunity for professional growth. Completing this form will help the current Board of Directors get to
know you and will give you better insight into the skills and time/resource commitments we are looking
for. This application will be kept confidential and on file at the Chamber office. Applications are used by the
Executive Committee to identify and evaluate potential board candidates. This committee will make
recommendations to the full Board of Directors. New Directors are elected by a majority vote of current
board members.
Board of Directors Position Description
1. Serves a 3-year term on the Board of Directors.
2. Attends board meetings and important related meetings on a regular basis. **3 consecutive
absences will be deemed a resignation.
3. Understands and supports the mission statements of the Glenwood Lakes Area Chamber of
Commerce & the Glenwood Lakes Area Welcome Center.
4. Advocates for the organizations by participating in member recruitment and retention efforts,
fundraising efforts, and speaking positively about the work of the Chamber & Welcome
Center.
5. Keeps all board discussions and activities confidential and publicly upholds all stances of the
board.
6. Volunteers for and willingly accepts assignments and completes them thoroughly and on
time.
7. Stays informed about committee matters, prepares for meetings, and reviews and comments
on minutes and reports.
8. Builds a collegial working relationship with other board members that contributes to
consensus.
9. Attends as many Chamber & Welcome Center events as possible; including but not limited to Rise & Shine, Glenwood Magical Christmas, the
Community Awards Luncheon & Pope County Salute to Business & Industry Luncheon.
10. Participates in the board’s annual evaluation and planning efforts.
