The UCAP School recognizes that computers and the internet today play a vital role in education. UCAP supports access by students to technology. We will teach appropriate skills to manage and appropriately use technology, including the Internet, Chromebooks, and other educational resources made possible through technology. Each student is assigned a UCAP email utilizing Google Suite to track assignments, write papers, and more.
However, the use of technology at UCAP is a privilege, and not a right, and this privilege may be taken away from students who do not comply with our rules and regulations. All UCAP students will be expected to follow the listed rules and regulations for using computers and the Internet at the school.

Students will not, in any way, access the electronic files of other students without permission.
Students will not act so as to impair the effective use of computers by others at UCAP (either by knowing damaging  hardware or by tampering with a computer’s programs or settings).
During the school day, students will use the Internet only for educational purposes which are consistent with existing school policies.
Students will not access, share, or print any material that is vulgar, obscene, or otherwise offensive without explicit teacher consent for the limited purpose in that the offensive material is determined to be necessary for direct educational purposes.
Students will not transmit personally sensitive information over the internet.
Students will not use profanity, make disrespectful or threatening remarks when communicating in any manner over the internet.
Students will not engage in any activity that requires an exchange of money or credit card numbers. Purchase and sales of any kind over the Internet are forbidden.
Students will not install copyrighted material they do not have permission to use on UCAP computers.
Students will treat Chromebooks with respect, and will be responsible for replacement of Chromebooks they break through negligence. This may mean paying the repair/replacement value for the Chromebook, or making amends through community service.
Students agree not to damage the screens of Chromebooks, peel up keys on any technology, or otherwise attempt to vandalize school Chromebooks.
The UCAP School cannot filter internet access at home, and we ask students to refrain from accessing inappropriate material at home, and for parents to monitor student's access at home. UCAP will not be held responsible for content accessed at home.
If due to COVID-19 there is a shift to distance learning, The UCAP School may occasionally host Google Meets. This will allow members of the UCAP community to come together for alternative face-to-face learning opportunities, if needed. That said, Meets use live video from community members that we are not able to control. Therefore, we will not be held responsible for the actions of members who are not staff of The UCAP School in Meets. If you would like to opt your student out of Google Meets as a part of the distance learning process, send a written request to Michael Mascellino at michaelm@ucap.org.

Internet access at UCAP is filtered to prevent students from accessing inappropriate material. We ask that students still agree to obey the rules above. We also ask that parents or guardians sign below to give their children permission to use computers and the internet at school. Your signatures below indicate that you have read UCAP’s Acceptable Use Policy and that you give your son or daughter permission to utilize the school’s technological resources. If you put your email below, you agree to receive communications from UCAP, including from classroom teachers or building staff.

 La Escuela UCAP reconoce que las computadoras y el Internet hoy juegan un papel vital en la educación. UCAP apoya el acceso de los estudiantes a la tecnología. Enseñaremos las habilidades apropiadas para administrar y usar la tecnología de manera adecuada, incluyendo Internet, Chromebooks y otros recursos educativos que se hacen posibles a través de la tecnología. A cada estudiante se le asigna un correo electrónico de UCAP que utiliza Google Suite para realizar un seguimiento de las tareas, escribir documentos y más.
   
Sin embargo, el uso de la tecnología en UCAP es un privilegio, y no un derecho, y este privilegio puede ser quitado a los estudiantes que no cumplan con nuestras reglas y regulaciones. Los estudiantes no transmitirán información confidencial personal a través de Internet.
Los estudiantes no usarán malas palabras, harán comentarios irrespetuosos o amenazantes cuando se comuniquen de alguna manera a través de Internet.
Los estudiantes no participarán en ninguna actividad que requiera un intercambio de dinero o números de tarjetas de crédito. Las compras y ventas de cualquier tipo por Internet están prohibidas.
Los estudiantes no instalarán material con derechos de autor que no tienen permiso para usar en las computadoras de la Escuela UCAP.
Los estudiantes tratarán a los Chromebooks con respeto y serán responsables de reemplazar los Chromebooks que rompan por negligencia. Esto puede significar pagar el valor de reparación / reemplazo del Chromebook o reparar el problema a través del servicio comunitario.
Los estudiantes acuerdan no dañar las pantallas de los Chromebooks, despegar las teclas de ninguna tecnología o intentar dañar los Chromebooks.
La escuela UCAP no puede filtrar el acceso a Internet en el hogar, y les pedimos a los estudiantes que se abstengan de acceder a material inapropiado en el hogar y que los padres controlen el acceso del estudiante en el hogar. UCAP no se hace responsable del contenido al que se accede desde casa.
Para ofrecer una mejor educación a distancia a los estudiantes, la Escuela UCAP ocasionalmente organizará un Encuentro Virtual (Google Meets). Esto permitirá que los miembros de la comunidad UCAP se reúnan para oportunidades alternativas de aprendizaje cara a cara. Dicho esto, Encuentro (Meets) usa videos en vivo de miembros de la comunidad que no podemos controlar. Por lo tanto, no seremos responsables de las acciones de los miembros que no son miembros del personal de La Escuela UCAP en  Encuentro.


El acceso al  Internet en UCAP se filtra para evitar que los estudiantes accedan a material inapropiado. Pedimos que los estudiantes aún están de acuerdo en obedecer las reglas anteriores. También les pedimos a los padres o tutores que firmen a continuación para darles a sus hijos el uso de computadoras e internet en la escuela. Sus firmas a continuación indican que ha leído la Política de uso aceptable de UCAP y que le da permiso a su hijo o hija para utilizar los recursos tecnológicos de la escuela. Si coloca su correo electrónico a continuación, acepta recibir comunicaciones del personal de  UCAP, incluso de los  maestros.
